Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler have been friends for over 30 years, but fans often confuse the two. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Stiller shared how people frequently mistake him for Sandler, especially when discussing the 2006 movie Click.
Stiller explained that people often shout out to him, saying, “‘Ben Stiller, I love you!” or mention how Click changed their lives. When Stiller corrects them, saying he’s not Sandler, they’re often confused and respond with, “Who?”
Although Stiller and Sandler don’t look much alike, their long history of working together in comedy films might be the reason for the mix-up. The two starred together in The Meyerowitz Stories (2017) and Stiller appeared in Happy Gilmore (1996), a classic Sandler comedy.
Stiller also made cameos in Sandler’s films, like Hubie Halloween and Funny People, which further contributed to the confusion. Their continued collaboration in comedy has cemented their strong bond both on and off screen.
The confusion is unlikely to stop anytime soon. Both actors are set to return in Happy Gilmore 2, with Netflix announcing the sequel in May. The new film will also feature Travis Kelce and Benny Safdie.
In a past Tonight Show interview, Sandler mentioned that Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, will appear in the film. Sandler described him as “funny and cool,” adding to the excitement for the upcoming sequel.
