Kathy Griffin has voiced serious worries about the potential consequences if Donald Trump wins a second term as president. She believes that Trump will target a list of individuals, particularly notable comedians, with whom he has had conflicts. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly about her upcoming My Life on the PTSD-List tour, Griffin shared her fears about Trump's possible actions.
The controversy surrounding a 2017 photo of Griffin holding a bloodied Trump mask led to a significant personal and professional fallout for her. She describes the subsequent Department of Justice investigation, which almost led to charges of conspiracy to assassinate the president, as "chilling" and unprecedented for a comedian. Griffin warns that Trump’s petty nature might drive him to pursue such vendettas against those who criticize him.
Griffin suspects that if Trump returns to power, he will target well-known figures like Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, and Rosie O'Donnell, continuing his pattern of public feuds. She anticipates that Trump’s focus on these individuals will become a central aspect of his presidency, potentially making his actions even more extreme than during his first term.
Trump’s longstanding animosity towards Rosie O'Donnell has been well-documented, with Trump making derogatory remarks about her during the 2016 election cycle. Both Stewart and Kimmel have been frequent critics of Trump, with Stewart targeting political figures broadly and Kimmel making jokes about Trump at the 2024 Oscars.
Other public figures, such as Jack Black, have distanced themselves from controversial statements about Trump, particularly following backlash over jokes related to a recent assassination attempt.
Griffin’s tour, My Life on the PTSD-List, is currently selling tickets.
