Suzanne Morrison reflects on her last moments with Matthew Perry in an upcoming interview, sharing poignant memories and insights into his struggles and death.

In a recent interview with Today, Perry’s mother, Suzanne Morrison, shared insights from her final conversations with her son. The full interview will air on Monday, October 28, marking the first anniversary of Perry’s passing, but an early teaser featuring Morrison’s discussion with Savannah Guthrie was released ahead of the weekend.

Morrison recalled a poignant moment shortly before Perry's death when he showed her one of his new homes. “He came up to me and said, ‘I love you so much, and I’m so happy to be with you now,'” she remembered. “It felt almost like a premonition. I realized it had been years since we had a conversation like that.”

Throughout his adult life, Perry faced struggles with drug addiction but had been sober for over a year prior to his death from a ketamine overdose. Reflecting on their last exchanges, Morrison now perceives signs that hinted at what was to come.

“There was an inevitability to what was going to happen next to him, and he felt it very strongly," Morrison noted. “But he said, ‘I’m not frightened anymore,’ which concerned me.”

Perry was the son of Morrison and her ex-husband, John Bennett Perry. After their separation, Morrison married Dateline correspondent Keith Morrison and had four additional children with him.

In August, the Department of Justice announced criminal charges against five individuals accused of providing Perry with the ketamine that led to his death: Perry's personal assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, Perry's acquaintance Erik Fleming, and Jasveen Sangha, who has been dubbed the "Ketamine Queen."

“We were and still are heartbroken by Matthew's death, but it is comforting to know that law enforcement has taken his case seriously,” the Morrison family stated following the charges. “We look forward to justice being served and appreciate the exceptional work of the multiple agencies involved in investigating Matthew's death. We hope this sends a message to unscrupulous suppliers of dangerous drugs.”
