Zachery Ty Bryan, the actor famous for portraying Brad Taylor on Home Improvement, has been arrested for the second time this year on charges of driving under the influence (DUI). The 43-year-old was detained by the Custer County Sheriff's Office in Oklahoma early on Friday morning, around 8:34 a.m. local time. In addition to the DUI charge, Bryan was also cited for driving without a valid driver's license.
This arrest marks another troubling chapter in Bryan's legal history. He was arrested in February 2024 for a felony DUI and also faced a misdemeanor contempt of court charge. Back in July 2023, Bryan was taken into custody on charges of felony assault, third-degree robbery, and assault. He later pled guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree, serving seven days in jail and being sentenced to three years of supervised probation.
Bryan’s legal issues stretch even further back. In October 2020, he was arrested on felony strangulation charges, along with misdemeanor assault and charges related to interfering with a police investigation. By February 2021, he had pled guilty to two charges, including assault in the fourth degree related to domestic violence and menacing.
In a 2023 interview, Bryan addressed the 2020 incident, describing it as a loud argument with his girlfriend, rather than a physical altercation. He mentioned that the noise in their apartment led to a police response, and he felt that the charges were a result of the police trying to pressure him into a plea deal.
Tim Allen, Bryan’s former co-star from Home Improvement, shared his thoughts on Bryan’s recent legal troubles in a 2023 interview as well. Allen expressed that while Bryan was a “great kid” who had matured into a “complicated man,” his recent behavior was difficult for Allen to understand or influence.
Following his role on Home Improvement, Bryan appeared in a variety of TV shows, including ER, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars, and Smallville, and also played a supporting role in the movie The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
