Alec Baldwin returns to SNL as Bret Baier, humorously challenging Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris in a satirical sketch after recent legal battles.

Alec Baldwin made his return to Saturday Night Live, but this time he didn’t don the wig for his infamous portrayal of former President Donald Trump. Instead, he took on the role of Bret Baier, a combative Fox News anchor, who challenged Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris during a mock interview.

The sketch mirrored their criticized Wednesday interview, featuring Baier interrupting the Democratic nominee frequently, even playing an incorrect clip from a Trump interview at one point. As Baldwin introduced himself as Baier, he humorously remarked, “Yes, I do look like someone made a businessman in Minecraft.”

When welcoming Harris to Fox News, Rudolph retorted, “The pleasure is neither of ours.” Baldwin immediately launched into a provocative question, asking, “Give me the exact number of murderers you let loose in this country.” Each time Rudolph tried to respond, he interrupted with escalating numbers: “A million? Two million? Ten million?”

Rudolph's Harris eventually pleaded, “May I please finish?” to which Baldwin responded, “I’m asking you to,” but continued talking over her. “When will you stop?” she inquired, to which he quipped, “Maybe when I go to bed.”

Once she managed to speak, Rudolph highlighted her success in prosecuting international drug cartels, claiming, “If I was in Breaking Bad, it would have ended in three episodes.” Baldwin’s Baier then accused her of attempting to create a viral moment. Although she denied it, she promptly turned to the camera to film a TikTok, stating, “See how I don't let them interrupt my answers? Very demure, very mindful.”

The sketch also featured James Austin Johnson as Trump and Dana Carvey as President Joe Biden. At one point, Rudolph's Harris insisted her presidency would be “j'billion times j'better” than “Juh-Biden.”

Johnson’s Trump humorously pointed out the nation’s flaws, saying, “We’re a failing country... full of jerks and idiots. But we love it. It’s really bad.” Meanwhile, Baldwin's Baier continued to play the wrong clips and refused to acknowledge it, seizing every opportunity to interrupt Rudolph.

"Stop talking," she finally demanded. “I don’t know how,” he replied. “Just shut your mouth,” she insisted, to which he countered, “I don’t think it does.”

Baldwin’s return to SNL marks his first appearance since the involuntary manslaughter charges related to the Rust incident were dropped in July, following claims that evidence had been withheld by prosecutors. Baldwin had been charged after the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on set in 2021 when a prop gun he was holding discharged. He has maintained his innocence, stating he “didn't pull the trigger.” In a related case, armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
