Following the announcement by Universal Pictures that they are developing a biopic based on Spears' memoir, The Woman in Me, the buzz around casting has intensified. Felicia Culotta, Spears' former longtime assistant, suggested that Roberts would be a perfect fit to portray the pop icon. Although no official casting decisions have been made, Roberts is already expressing her excitement and willingness to take on the role. In a candid interview with Cosmopolitan published on August 29, Roberts shared, “It’s my true dream to play Britney Spears. It’s just a rumor right now, but I hope it comes true.”

Roberts, who became a mother in late 2020 with ex-boyfriend Garrett Hedlund, has a deep connection to Spears' music. She reminisced about her teenage years, locked away in her room, obsessively memorizing every lyric of Britney's In the Zone album.
