Fans rally to save My Lady Jane after its cancellation on Amazon Prime Video. Discover their campaign and why this acclaimed series deserves a second chance.

When My Lady Jane, a historical revisionist series, premiered on Amazon Prime Video in June 2024, it quickly gained critical acclaim, boasting a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite its warm reception and a dedicated fan base, the show was canceled after just one season of eight episodes.

In response, fans have mobilized to try to save the series. Under the banner Save My Lady Jane, they are launching a multifaceted campaign to convince Amazon to reverse its decision or attract another network willing to pick up the show for a second season.

The group started a petition on Change.org on July 15, aiming to "show your support for this unique storytelling" and "demand the return of My Lady Jane." The petition links to a Linktree with instructions for fans to rate and review the series on platforms like IMDb, Prime Video, and Rotten Tomatoes. It also encourages following the campaign on X and Facebook, and sending direct messages to Prime Video on Instagram. Additionally, the petition provides email templates to send to Amazon COO Albert Cheng and other grievance accounts.

One of the email templates expresses frustration with the cancellation, saying, "As a loyal Prime Video member, I am shocked by this decision and am considering ending my membership. This cancellation feels like a silencing of the female voices represented in the show."

My Lady Jane offers a creative retelling of the life of Jane Grey, the "Nine Days Queen" of England. Unlike traditional accounts, this version imagines Jane surviving and being crowned queen amidst political intrigue. The series, based on the book by Cynthia Hand, features a cast including Emily Bader, Edward Bluemel, Jordan Peters, and Kate O'Flynn.

The Save My Lady Jane campaign praises the series for avoiding the common trope of "gratuitous sexual violence," focusing instead on "joy, communication, and fun," as highlighted by the show’s co-creators Gemma Burgess and Meredith Glynn.

Fan activism has a history of saving canceled shows, such as Sense8, Last Man Standing, and The Baker and The Beauty. Other shows, like The Expanse and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, have been revived after cancellation. With persistent efforts, My Lady Jane might yet find a new home.
