Hisense’s new PL2 Laser TV offers 150 inches of near-4K resolution, 2,700 lumens brightness, and improved features. Launching soon in Europe for €2,499.

Hisense is fully embracing its “big screen, big value” approach for its 2024 TV lineup. Following the release of the impressively bright U9N Mini-LED TV, the company is now introducing a new model, the Hisense PL2 Laser TV, which offers nearly 4K resolution and can project images up to 150 inches wide. This new model is set to launch in Europe later this month.

Unlike traditional TVs, Hisense's laser TVs are ultra-short throw projectors designed to display content from popular streaming services on a specialized projector screen. The previous PL1 Laser TV supported projections up to 120 inches, so the new PL2 represents a significant upgrade.

The Hisense PL2 features several enhancements over its predecessor. It has a lower throw ratio (0.22 vs. 0.25 on the PL1), allowing for closer wall placement. For instance, to project an 80-inch image, the PL2 needs to be only about 4.5 inches from the wall, and for a 150-inch image, about 18 inches.

In addition to a larger screen, the PL2 boasts a higher peak brightness of 2,700 lumens, up from the PL1’s 2,200 lumens. Hisense also claims the laser light source has a lifespan exceeding 25,000 hours.

The refresh rate for 2K signals has been improved, and the PL2 supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It also features built-in 30W speakers with Dolby Atmos. The TV includes dedicated Sport and Game modes to reduce latency and apply motion smoothing. The VIDAA U7 operating system ensures compatibility with AirPlay 2 and Apple HomeKit. Connectivity options include HDMI 2.1, USB, and an audio jack.

The Hisense PL2 Laser TV will be available in the EU later this month for €2,499. While a U.S. release date is not yet confirmed, it may follow the same schedule as the PL1’s launch.
