Tom Holland reveals he kept Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Doctor Doom a secret. He also discusses plans for a fourth Spider-Man film on the Rich Roll podcast.

Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man, has earned a reputation as Marvel's top spoiler source. However, he recently managed to keep a major secret regarding Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday until its official announcement at San Diego Comic Con this summer.

In a recent episode of the Rich Roll podcast, Holland shared that he was one of the few who knew about Downey's comeback, expressing excitement about their conversations. “That was a tough secret to keep,” he admitted, noting his history of revealing spoilers and explaining that he had strategically avoided press to maintain secrecy.

Despite his tendency to spill spoilers, Holland previously revealed significant plot points, including Iron Man’s death in Avengers: Endgame on The Graham Norton Show. His co-stars, including Benedict Cumberbatch, Zendaya, and Jake Gyllenhaal, often intervene to prevent him from sharing too much during interviews.

While Holland was entrusted with Downey's secret, Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye, mentioned he received no updates about Downey's casting in their original Avengers group chat. “This son of a bitch didn’t say anything to me,” Renner remarked, highlighting their friendship.

Holland also hinted at a fourth Spider-Man film, stating that a script has been drafted. “We have a creative pitch and a draft, which is excellent,” he said. He and Zendaya recently read the script together, getting excited about its potential. However, Holland emphasized that he wants to ensure any future film does justice to Peter Parker and the fans.

“I want to make many more, but only for the right reasons,” he stated, reflecting on the responsibility that comes with his role. “I definitely don’t want to just make a movie for the sake of it, because that’s not what Spider-Man represents.”

Fans can listen to Holland discuss these topics and more in the podcast episode.
