Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins of the iconic girl group TLC is currently recovering from a significant medical emergency that resulted in the cancellation of their scheduled performances. The situation unfolded on August 23, just 30 minutes before their highly anticipated show at the New York State Fair. T-Boz experienced a severe abdominal blockage, leading to sudden and intense nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. She was immediately taken to the hospital in Syracuse for urgent medical attention.
According to a statement shared on TLC's Instagram, the issue was confirmed to be an abdominal blockage, not food poisoning. The decision to cancel the performance was made based on medical advice, and T-Boz needed to stay overnight at the hospital to undergo a CT scan to assess the extent of her condition. The statement also noted that the group's performance on August 24 at Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut was canceled as well.
TLC expressed their deep regret over the cancellations and reassured fans that they are committed to rescheduling the concerts. T-Boz took to Instagram to share her recovery progress, expressing her disappointment and gratitude for the support. She mentioned that she is on the mend and hopes to return to performing soon, possibly even as early as the following day if her condition improves.
The unexpected cancellation disappointed many fans who were eager to see TLC repeat their successful performance from 2022 at the New York State Fair, which had attracted a crowd of 30,000 people. This incident marks the second time this year that TLC has had to cancel shows due to health-related issues. In May, they rescheduled four dates in Canada after T-Boz and other tour members fell ill with the flu.
TLC, now a duo since the death of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes in 2002, has apologized for the inconvenience caused and expressed their commitment to making up for the missed performances. They appreciate their fans' continued support and look forward to the opportunity to perform again in the near future.
