"Wayne Brady: The Family Remix" showcases the star's unconventional family, blending candid moments and real-life dynamics in a fresh, unscripted reality series.

Wayne Brady is ready to reveal more about his personal life in the new reality show, "Wayne Brady: The Family Remix." This series highlights his unconventional family, which includes his ex-wife and business partner Mandie Taketa, their college-aged daughter Maile, and Taketa’s life partner, Jason Fordham.

Known as the “core four,” this group has entertained fans on TikTok with their dances and fun, but the series will offer a deeper look into their lives. Brady, a long-time fan of the superhero genre, expressed his frustration with previous scripted portrayals of families like his, noting that they didn’t reflect their authentic experience. Instead, the family opted for an unscripted format to truly showcase their dynamic.

The show will explore the close-knit relationships within the family. Despite their past, including Brady's initial difficulty with Taketa’s relationship with Fordham, they have moved past the tension and are now showing their genuine interactions. Fordham is eager for viewers to see how they live and relate, though he acknowledges that reality shows often condense life’s complexities.

Maile Brady, now 21, loves spending time with her parents and values their individual relationships. Taketa emphasizes that they all engage in self-reflection and therapy to improve their family dynamics. She hopes viewers will take away the importance of self-love and setting high expectations for those around them.

The show does not shy away from the vulnerability and challenges that come with exposing their lives on camera, but the family is not worried about the so-called “reality show curse.” Maile even joked about hoping the show might help her find a relationship. "Wayne Brady: The Family Remix" premieres on Freeform on Wednesday.
