On Sunday, the former president reacted on Truth Social to Swift's endorsement of his opponent, Kamala Harris, for President. Trump simply wrote, “I hate Taylor Swift!”
In reply, the Harris-Walz campaign released a statement humorously critiquing Trump with multiple Swift song references. The statement began, “We’re pretty sure it’s Safe & Sound to say Donald Trump’s week has him Down Bad.” It continued, “Mr. Not-at-all Fine has spent this week dealing with his Champagne Problems, while ignoring the real issues affecting Americans.”
The campaign also questioned Trump’s emotional stability with lines like, “His rambling and conspiracy theories have many wondering if The Man is too emotional to be president. It’s Nothing New for the Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.”
The statement further criticized Trump, saying, “Trump and his inner circle of extremists can’t seem to Shake it Off as the Bad Blood between Trump and his running mate grows.” The campaign highlighted difficulties Trump faced recently, including his debate performance on September 10.
In a follow-up, spokesperson Sarafina Chitika stated, “Donald Trump’s week of complaints and conspiracy theories has voters from all sides ready to Forget That He Existed. Americans want to move Out of the Woods of Trump’s chaos and broken promises and Begin Again with Vice President Harris to secure a future of opportunity.”
Chitika added, “We can turn the page on the Trump era and create a new story where all Americans can Breathe Easy with strong leadership. We are committed to ensuring The Story of Us is one of progress and showing Trump we are not going Back to December of 2020.”
After the debate in Philadelphia, Swift shared on Instagram, endorsing Harris and urging her fans to register to vote and research the issues. “I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election," she wrote. "She fights for the rights and causes I believe need a champion.”
Swift concluded her post with the phrase “Childless Cat Lady,” referencing a derogatory comment made by Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, about single women in the Democratic party.
Trump responded on Fox News, where he reiterated his lack of enthusiasm for Swift, mentioning he “was not a Taylor Swift fan” and predicting she would face consequences in the marketplace for her Democratic endorsement.
