Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have officially finalized their divorce settlement, more than a year after Jonas initially filed for separation. On September 6, a Florida judge determined that the couple's four-year marriage was "irretrievably broken." The details of their settlement remain confidential, but the court documents suggest that they have reached an agreement deemed to be "in the best interests of the parties and this family."
The judge also waived Florida's 20-day mandatory waiting period for divorces, officially ending their marriage and restoring both Jonas and Turner to single status.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2019 after three years of dating, share two young children. In 2022, they bought a home in Miami but sold it the following year. Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023, sparking a protracted legal battle and substantial media scrutiny.
In response to the filing, Jonas and Turner released a joint statement: "After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. Despite numerous speculative narratives, this decision was made jointly, and we request privacy for ourselves and our children."
Subsequent legal disputes saw Turner accusing Jonas of "wrongfully retaining" their children. Jonas’s representatives clarified that he sought shared custody to ensure both parents could actively participate in raising their kids.
A temporary agreement was reached for the children to stay in New York, with a further custody arrangement in place until January 7. The couple’s statement revealed that their children would now spend equal time in loving homes across both the U.S. and the UK.
Reports surfaced indicating that Jonas had requested to withdraw his initial divorce petition in Miami, opting instead for a private resolution to their separation.
Currently, Jonas is on his international tour with the Jonas Brothers, known as The Tour. Meanwhile, Turner is gearing up for her role in the forthcoming TV series Joan. Reflecting on the separation, Turner shared with British Vogue in May that the aftermath has been "the worst few days of my life." She expressed frustration with how the situation unfolded, particularly in relation to her children, who she believes have been the primary victims of the circumstances.
