Nicole Kidman shines in Babygirl as a CEO in a tense power struggle, earning the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. A must-see Oscar contender, out Dec. 25.

Nicole Kidman takes on the role of a high-powered businesswoman, a familiar type for her in recent years, as seen in projects like Big Little Lies and The Undoing. In her latest film, Babygirl, Kidman offers a new and intriguing twist on this archetype, which won her the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival.

In the film, Kidman portrays Romy, a CEO struggling to keep her professional and personal lives intact, despite being married to a still-charming Antonio Banderas. Enter Harris Dickinson as Samuel, a young intern at her company, who begins a psychosexual relationship with Romy, flipping their power dynamic. The affair threatens both her career and her family.

Samuel asserts his control over Romy, saying, "I think I have power over you," which leads to a dangerously seductive power play. Their intense connection reaches a pivotal moment when Samuel whispers "Good girl" to Romy, solidifying the tension between them.

Though Kidman won the Best Actress award, she couldn't attend the festival to accept it, as her mother had just passed away. Director Halina Reijn read a heartfelt statement from Kidman, where she expressed her gratitude and dedicated the award to her late mother, Janelle Ann Kidman.

With Babygirl releasing on December 25, Nicole Kidman steps into the Best Actress Oscar race, showcasing a bold, complex character in a film that promises to stir emotions during the holiday season.
