If you thought you'd seen everything from Lukas Gage after his notorious scene in White Lotus with Murray Bartlett, get ready for more with the new Smile 2 trailer.
The first preview for the eagerly awaited horror sequel showcases Gage making a disturbing grin that echoes the nightmarish expressions leading up to gruesome deaths in the original 2022 film.
Smile 2 centers on pop star Skye Riley (played by Naomi Scott), who encounters the cursed entity from the first film after a performance at a concert. In the trailer, she comes across a panicked companion (Gage) fleeing from a dark corridor. As he calms down, a sinister smile spreads across his face, and he begins to strike himself with a heavy weight plate.
The sequel suggests that the curse has now attached itself to Skye, according to dialogue in the trailer. This entity, known for driving its victims to self-destruction in horrifying ways, causes several terrifying moments in the preview, including a scene where Skye is unsettled by people smiling at her in a crowded banquet hall.
The trailer concludes with a shocking scene of a man getting hit by a car, leaving a bloody smile-shaped trail. It then shifts to Skye trying to sign an autograph for a red-haired child whose smile progressively becomes more unsettling.
Director Parker Finn’s original Smile was a major hit in 2022, earning $217 million worldwide on a $17 million budget and receiving positive reviews for its story and Sosie Bacon's performance.
Smile 2, featuring Kyle Gallner, Raúl Castillo, and Rosemarie DeWitt, will hit theaters on October 18. Watch the trailer above.
