This installment in the Deadpool series also set a new benchmark globally, pulling in $233.3 million internationally and totaling $438.3 million worldwide.
This massive success marks the largest global debut since Avatar: Way of the Water in 2022. Deadpool & Wolverine surpassed its projected earnings of $160 million to $175 million and is the biggest opening of 2024 and the biggest in Reynolds' and Jackman's careers. It also set a new record for July openings.
Previously, Disney’s highest-grossing R-rated film was Pretty Woman from 1990, which earned $178.4 million. The movie has been praised for its engaging cameos and Easter eggs, earning a 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In contrast, Twisters fell to second place with $36 million in its second weekend, bringing its total to $155.6 million domestically. The film, starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, exceeded expectations with an $80.5 million debut.
Despicable Me 4 claimed the third spot with $14.4 million, raising its total to $290.9 million after four weeks. Inside Out 2, meanwhile, secured the fourth position and became the highest-grossing animated film of all time, earning $613.4 million domestically and $1.5 billion worldwide after seven weeks."
