Pixar’s superhero family is gearing up for another adventure.
The highly anticipated “Incredibles 3” is in the works at Pixar Animation Studios, with Brad Bird returning as both writer and director. Bird previously directed the original 2004 film, The Incredibles, and its 2018 sequel, Incredibles 2.
The announcement was made by Pixar chief Pete Docter during Disney’s grand presentation at the D23 Expo. While no specific details about the new film were shared, the announcement follows the huge success of Inside Out 2, which recently overtook Incredibles 2 as Pixar's highest-grossing film and surpassed Disney Animation’s Frozen II as the highest-grossing animated film of all time. A release date for Incredibles 3 has not yet been announced.
The original The Incredibles depicted Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl trying to lead a normal life after the government banned superheroes. The film was a major hit, grossing over $630 million worldwide. Its sequel, Incredibles 2, released 14 years later, earned $1.24 billion globally and continued the story immediately after the first film’s events.
The voice cast from the original movie returns for the sequel, including Craig T. Nelson as Mr. Incredible (Bob Parr), Holly Hunter as Elastigirl (Helen Parr), Sarah Vowell as Violet Parr, Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone (Lucius Best), and Brad Bird as the quirky fashion designer Edna Mode. Huckleberry Milner voices the super-fast Dash Parr, taking over from Spencer Fox.
