During a recent concert in Munich, Germany, Adele took the opportunity to ask her audience if they had seen the Australian b-girl’s viral dance performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her routine, featuring her hopping around like a kangaroo, became an internet sensation.
“I need to know because it’s all my friends and I have been discussing since last night and today,” Adele mentioned in a TikTok clip from the event. “I’m not exaggerating when I say it might be the highlight of the Olympics so far—did anyone catch the breakdancing lady?”
The Grammy-winner confessed she didn’t realize that breakdancing was included in the Olympics this year, but she thought Raygun’s act was “f---ing fantastic.” She even asked her band if they had seen her performance.
“My percussionist is laughing uncontrollably just thinking about it,” Adele shared, laughing herself. “I’m not sure if it was a joke, but it made me really happy. My friends and I have been laughing about it for nearly a whole day.”
She encouraged those who missed it to check out the video immediately. “If you haven’t seen it, leave the show and look it up,” Adele urged. “It’s hilarious. It’s my favorite thing from the Olympics so far.”
Adele isn’t the only fan of Raygun. Chloe Fineman, from Saturday Night Live, also got into the spirit by dressing like Raygun and recreating her moves in a TikTok video. She wrote, “All hail RAYGUN. She hopped like a kangaroo and nailed it???”
Raygun, whose real name is Rachel Gunn, has defended her distinctive style. “I knew I wouldn’t outshine these girls with their power moves,” she told the AP. “What I bring to the table is creativity.”
And she certainly brought a lot of joy to Adele.
