The indie sensation Vampire Survivors is finally making its way to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on August 29, 2024.
Developer Poncle announced the release with a quirky trailer, boasting 500,000 texture-mapped garlic balls and at least 13.5 hours of gameplay. Remarkably, it’s all available for the cost of a peri peri chicken wrap.
Vampire Survivors is a fast-paced gothic horror game with rogue-lite elements. It challenges players to combat swarms of monsters, using strategic choices to build up their power and survive increasingly difficult waves.
Originally a modest indie title on Steam, Vampire Survivors became a surprising hit, rapidly gaining a large following. The game has since expanded to include 50 playable characters and 80 weapons, along with two major expansions that add even more depth and variety to the gameplay.
In its 8/10 review, IGN described the game as ideal for playing while listening to podcasts. They praised Vampire Survivors for its deceptively simple design that hides a surprisingly deep experience. However, they also noted that the game can occasionally feel dull if you advance too far ahead of its intended challenge.
The PlayStation release will allow console players to experience this runaway indie success, complete with its addictive gameplay and expansive content. Fans of the genre and newcomers alike will have the chance to dive into the dark and thrilling world of Vampire Survivors this August.
