John Carpenter is teaming up with Boss Team Games for two new Halloween video games. Expect classic horror and iconic characters, including Michael Myers.

John Carpenter, the legendary director behind classics like The Thing, The Fog, and They Live, is also a passionate gamer. It’s no surprise then that he’s collaborating on two new video games inspired by his 1978 classic Halloween.

Carpenter, who once shared that he prefers to "play video games and watch basketball," is joining forces with Boss Team Games—the publisher of Evil Dead: The Game—to develop these new titles. At least one of these games will utilize Unreal Engine 5 and incorporate Carpenter’s direct input.

Carpenter expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly.” The games are being created with the involvement of the Halloween franchise producers, ensuring a faithful adaptation of the 1978 film.

These upcoming games will let players relive iconic moments from the original movie and engage with classic characters, avoiding the cringe-worthy elements from later installments. They are being developed with Compass International Pictures and Further Front, and will be built on Unreal Engine 5, though the development is still in its early stages.

Boss Team Games CEO, Steve Harris, expressed enthusiasm about working with Carpenter and the opportunity to expand on his original vision, promising a unique experience for fans.

In the past, there was a 1983 adaptation of Halloween for the Atari 2600, where players took on the role of a babysitter, guiding children to safety from a knife-wielding killer, with the game's only notable link to the film being its iconic theme music.

Additionally, Michael Myers has appeared as one of the many killers in Dead by Daylight.
