Intel extends warranty for 13th and 14th Gen CPUs by 2 years amid instability issues. Current warranty upgrades to 5 years, addressing potential damage.

Despite there being no immediate fix for the crashing issues with Intel’s 13th and 14th Gen Core processors, Intel is offering some relief by extending the warranty on these chips. Customers with potentially damaged CPUs will benefit from an additional two years of warranty coverage, bringing the total to five years for affected models.

Thomas Hannaford from Intel stated, “Intel is committed to ensuring that all customers experiencing instability with their 13th or 14th Gen desktop processors receive support during the exchange process.” He added that more details about the extended warranty support will be provided soon.

Currently, Intel’s boxed processors come with a three-year limited warranty, so this extension means that most impacted CPUs will now have a five-year warranty. Last week, Intel did not comment on extending the warranty.

The instability in these CPUs is primarily attributed to an “elevated operating voltage.” Intel is working on a patch for mid-August to address this issue, but it will not repair any existing damage. Therefore, replacing the damaged chips remains the best solution.
