Discover the Fitbit Ace LTE's latest update: Tap to Pay, Lunch Break mode, new games, and more! Available now with a $30 discount at the Google Store.

The Fitbit Ace LTE has just received its first major post-launch update, bringing new features such as Tap to Pay, a Lunch Break mode, and additional games.

As promised during its launch, the Fitbit Ace LTE now supports Tap to Pay using Greenlight or GoHenry debit cards. These services assist parents in teaching their children about responsible spending with tools like transaction alerts, spending limits, and allowances for chores. Children can view their recent transactions, and parents will receive updates and live purchase notifications through the companion app.

Tap to Pay is available wherever Google Pay NFC transactions are accepted, but a screen lock must be enabled on the Fitbit Ace LTE. To make a payment, users need to double-press the top Home button on the side and hold the watch near the payment reader. Alternatively, tapping the Home button once reveals a new Wallet icon next to health stats and the clock.

Parents can manage payment capabilities by locking or temporarily disabling this feature via their app, and they can remove the card whenever they wish.

The School Time mode, which previously silenced notifications and disabled games, now includes a Lunch Break option. This feature allows kids to use their watch during recess while remaining focused during class.

The Fitbit Ace companion app will soon offer a new feature that lets users add siblings—whether they have a phone or another Ace LTE—as contacts for their child.

Additionally, Google is introducing new Daily Quest tasks and challenges featuring evidence-based health content from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

The update also adds two new games:

  • Sproutlings: In this game, children can care for virtual pets, grow fruit, and explore new gardens to feed their pets exotic bugs.
  • Spirit Garden: This game helps children practice mindfulness through guided activities that unlock land spirits and rebuild ancient shrines.

The Fitbit Ace LTE is now available at Best Buy, Target, the Google Store, and Amazon. From August 11-25, it is offered with a $30 discount on the Google Store.
